Description

The Smagall HS-MLI Portable Ultrasonic Liquid Level Indicator provides a fast, reliable and non-invasive solution for determining the liquid level inside gas cylinders and sealed containers. Designed for field engineers, fire protection contractors, industrial maintenance personnel and gas cylinder service companies, the HS-MLI eliminates the need to open, weigh or depressurize cylinders during routine inspections.

Unlike conventional methods that rely on weighing or estimation, the HS-MLI uses advanced ultrasonic sensing technology to distinguish between liquid and gaseous contents inside a cylinder. Simply place the probe against the external wall of the cylinder and slowly move it vertically. The instrument immediately indicates whether liquid is present, allowing the operator to identify the liquid level accurately and efficiently.

Because the instrument operates externally, there is no risk of contaminating the contents or exposing operators to hazardous gases. It also eliminates the mess associated with ultrasonic couplants, as the HS-MLI is specifically designed to operate without coupling gel.

The HS-MLI is suitable for containers manufactured from steel, stainless steel, glass and selected unformed plastics with wall thicknesses between 3 mm and 30 mm. It is capable of detecting pure liquids, milky liquids and suspension liquids, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial and fire protection applications.

This portable liquid level indicator is commonly used to inspect cylinders containing:

  • Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
  • FM200®
  • Novec™ 1230
  • Halon
  • FE13
  • NAF S III
  • CEA 410
  • Other gases where the contents exist as liquid within compatible containers

Powered by two rechargeable 18650 lithium batteries, the HS-MLI offers approximately 10 hours of continuous operation, making it ideal for routine inspections, maintenance programmes and on-site servicing.

Whether you are inspecting a single cylinder or conducting preventive maintenance across an entire fire suppression system, the Smagall HS-MLI helps improve inspection efficiency while reducing downtime and guesswork.

Every unit supplied by AK Measurement includes a carrying case, rechargeable batteries (where permitted), user manual and a Calibration Certificate for added confidence.
